How to help Hungry Families Achieve Food Security?

How to help Hungry Families Achieve Food Security?

In a Randomized Control Trial (RCT) we conducted in conjunction with Latet organization, we were able to alleviate hunger for more than half of the families who participated in the trial and improve the condition of all families who were in a state of severe food insecurity. The trial sample consisted of 130 families suffering from severe food insecurity that were randomly divided into two groups. The food security levels of both groups were measured three times during the trial year, using the USDA questionnaire.

The study showed that all the families who participated in the trial experienced a significant improvement in their food security situation. 70% of the participating families experienced a significant improvement in their level of food security and the average rate of improvement among them was about 19% on the food security scale. In fact, 52% of all families who participated in the experiment were rescued from hunger. These figures are high compared to corresponding findings from interventions elsewhere in the world. The study also allowed us to draw lines for future scalable interventions to rescue families from starvation
